Well its been a tough old season after the highs of last year for The Legends, but one thing this bunch will not do is give up!
As we rock up on New House Farm on a cold yet sunny morning there was a bit of a buzz around the squad, which could mean only on thing! They were proper up for it! And boy were they!
Right from the off the Legends were bang at it, with Jacob now sitting in a back 5 to add some more steel to Jak and Bentleys brick wall, Antoni and Elliot bossing the middle of the park like last season, Ashton, Zak, Roman and Noah causing problems up top while Riley E and Trey marshalled the wings and full back positions, Riley B between the sticks being his usual vociferous self, and a strong bench with Oliver, Connor, Riley O poised and ready to be the game changers when needed.
The game was end to end early doors, but it was Egerton who took the lead from a neat finish on 8 mins. The Legends were in no mood to roll over though and on 15 mins the ref made a tough call to award a penalty against us, could this be two down so soon?!
Not today!!! Riley B was equal to the task and saved the penalty low to his left and gathered the rebound as well! Hero!
From then on the Legends found their groove, with Antoni and Elliot wining everything down the middle and Ashton marauding down the wings - it was our number 11 who brought us level just before half time, latching on to a through ball from the back from Jacob, he took on the full back and tucked the ball neatly in the corner 1-1!!
And with that it was half time! The game had literally flown by it was that good!!
Refreshment on board and a team talk given 'More of the same please!' and the second half was off!
More of the same we got as well, with Zak and Noah combining well up front, Elliot and Antoni knitting play together, this was becoming the Legends performance of the season!
All we needed was another goal to take the much deserved 3 points, and when it came what a strike it was, Roman, Riley O, Elliot knocked the ball around beautifully at the back with the latter feeding Ashton in the middle of the field, he skipped past his marker and played Noah in with a precision pass, Noah took a touch and planted past the Egerton keeper!! 2-1 to the Legends!!
All the subs played their part as well, Riley O with two superb sliding tackles, Connor holding the ball up well with his tricky twists and turns and Oliver arguably should have had a penalty given against him is the last moments but the ref opted to blow full time!

The 3 points were Breightmets!!

This really was the ultimate team performance with every player doing his bit, and for that reason Barlow, Neil and Mike couldnt choose a single man of the match so the whole squad was awarded it!

It just goes to show what this set of lads are capable of when they work hard and stick together!
