Many of you may not have known - but Breightmet United Football Club was 'born' in 1880 - and we ramp up our preparations for our 150th birthday, we're 'going back' to the original colours on our famous club crest...
The new badge - which has been modernised to bring it into a digital age but also ensures we mark our founding year - will be used across all of our kits, clubwear and our social media platforms - and as the birthday approaches in 2030, there is every intention for EVERY TEAM that represents us to be wearing the 'retro' kit that our founding members adorned all the way back in the 19th century...
Everyone at Breightmet United Football Club is immensely proud of our history and the connection the club has with the heart of the community. That's why the Club have decided to retain our traditional elements - including the bars and the rings - but they will now be in a bold black as we return to the colours that our players wore all those years ago. We are going to a vote with our coaching staff and players as to which kit will be used across the entire club and you'll have a role to play in that as well so watch this space...
Speaking about the process, our Cbub Chairman Ian Wright, said: “It is a proud moment for everyone at Breightmet United. A lot of hard work, and consultation with committee members, has gone into this project to evolve the club badge.
“It was important that we kept the traditional elements of the badge, but modernised and evolved it so it was fit for purpose in a digital age and allowed us to get consistency across Moss Park and throughout the club in general. We wanted to emphasis that we were originated in 1880 - hence the year now being included - and we also felt the need to go back to the original black and white in time for our massive upcoming birthday"
“I would like to thank all those who have worked hard on this project and all the fans and stakeholders who will help us with the consultation process around which will be 'the' kit we are all wearing come the 2030-2031 season. We are very pleased with the outcome and believe this is an important step for Breightmet United going forward.”
So. There you have it. Now for the next step - and that's choosing which kit will be 'the one'. Make sure you keep an eye across our social media platforms for the choices and the kit that gets the most votes wins. It's as simple as that...
We hope that this badge change is to the favour of all of you out there but we're more than happy to hear any concerns should there be any. This is 'your' club after all...
